Aizawa Proton Therapy Center offers the most advanced cancer treatment using the latest technology in fighting cancer
One of the major concerns of radiation therapy is damage to healthy tissue around the tumor/cancer being treated. Aizawa Proton Therapy Center has been opened since September 2014 and has been offering radiation therapy that is less harmful than conventional radiation therapy uses x-rays or electrons.
Aizawa Proton Therapy Center now provides the most precise form of radiation therapy with Pencil Beam Scanning in addition to the conventional Broad Beam Irradiation method by adopting a variety of cutting-edge technology. Pencil Beam Scanning technology enables clinicians to precisely manipulate and direct the proton beam so that its energy conforms exactly to the unique size and shape of the tumor/cancer.
Also, our gantry room is equipped with a CT and x-ray imaging machines so-called “In-Room CT system” enables clinicians to determine the exact site and position of a tumor/cancer.
In the past, in order to provide proton therapy, it required massive facility on a vast area of land. That is why proton therapy did not become common. However, a rapid technological advancement enabled reducing the size of accelerator.
Aizawa Hospital succeeded to establish the proton therapy facility in the much smaller area than ever, by adopting vertically arranged compact proton therapy system.
